ABS FILAMENT is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Plastic.
It comes in a wide range of colors and is strong, flexibility, malleability and has a higher temperature resistance.
It has a plastic odor due to its petroleum-based origins.
ABS Filament begins to melt at 356°F (180°C) and works at 446°F (230°C).
Please be sure to use the ABS Button (Fast Extrusion Button) which is the one closest to the tip of the LIX PEN UV when using ABS Filament.
When the LIX PEN UV is in ABS Mode the Light Diodes will be Red.
PLA FILAMENT is Poly Lactic Acid Plastic.
It also comes in a variety of colors with an attractive glossy translucency.
It is produced from plant-based origins, such as corn starch and has a semi-sweet smell and is a bio-based alternative to ABS.
It has slightly less strength and flexibility than ABS and is also sensitive to moisture, extreme heat and light during storage.
PLA begins to melt at 320°F (160°C) and works at 356°F (180°C).
Please be sure to use the PLA Button (Slow Extrusion Button) which is the second or top button of the LIX PEN UV when using PLA Filament.
When the LIX PEN UV is in PLA Mode the Light Diodes will be Green.
